Stephen comes from a family of artists, his great grandfather was a glass artisan from Czechoslovakia. Stephen's father was an automobile designer and illustrator for Ford Motor Company. He was an advanced stylist in advanced styling dream room. Stephen attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia on a scholarship, class of ’82. Stephen has survived as a professional artist for over 24 years. He was a Senior Illustrator/Designer at Aramark Inc. and is currently an art services supplier to Aramark. Stephen spent several years as a Senior Illustrator/Designer for Burgoyne Greeting Cards Inc., where he was recognized as a finalist three times by the International Greeting Card Association for "Best in Greeting Card Design Louie Award".

He has won numerous awards in both fine art and commercial art exhibitions.
His work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum, Marion Locks Gallery, Rodger LaPelle Gallery, Tin Man Alley Gallery, and Cheltenham Art Center and Abington Art Center juried art exhibitions. Stephen has recently been pursuing a freelance career and has created artwork for The Franklin Mint, Disney Clothing, Aramark Inc., McDonalds Inc., American Eagle Outfitters, Woolrich Sportswear, and several top advertising agencies. Stephen in addition is always pursuing his painting career as a fine artist and has made a transition into the fine art world. His paintings have been the recipients of many awards from top galleries. His work has been on the cover of American Artist Magazine. Recently he won the Philadelphia Museum of Art national greeting card competition open to professional artists. His work is being sold through the museum store. His two world wide distributed children’s books are available through major booksellers. He is currently working on his third children's book. American Artist Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Stephen Doherty has said that Stephen will achieve more professional acclaim in years ahead.
