Moore College of Art - I have joined the faculty at Moore College of Art as an adjunct professor in Moore’s exceptional illustration department. Moore is celebrating its 160th year as the nation’s first and only arts college for women. Moore College of Art was founded in 1848 and continues to be a leader in the visual arts. I’m honored to have been selected.
Children’s Book
My long awaited next children’s book “The Mighty Raft” is complete and is awaiting reviews and production schedules. It was a major project and the largest work I have ever done. My first two books “Mr. George and the Red Hat” and “The Snowman in the Moon” won national awards and were both finalist for the “Children’s Book of the Year” award from ForeWord Magazine. I also won the “Mom’s Choice Award” for best creative children’s picture book for “The Snowman in the Moon. The Snowman in the Moon was also selected at the World Book Expo by DreamWorks for animated film production consideration. It’s still under active review.
Solo Exhibition
Coming soon in May 2009 to June 2009, I will be showing a small solo exhibition in the “Artists Window” at Daffy’s Center City. The title of the show is “Robots and Amusement” and will feature several large new works. The large gallery window is at 17th and Chestnut Street in center city Philadelphia on the 17th Street side.. It’s a wonderful opportunity that Daffy’s presents here for artists and they should be applauded for giving up valuable merchandising space to support local artists and bringing these shows to the community.
Olympics, Beijing China
I was involved with providing artwork for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China and worked on the pre-construction renderings of proposed facilities and display areas.
Philadelphia Sketch Club-“Phillustration” Exhibition
I received the 2nd overall award at Phillustration ’07. This was the first illustrators exhibition held in Philadelphia. The show featured so many accomplished illustrators that I admire, such as Charles Santore and Robert Byrd along with newcomers to the field of illustration. It was a wonderful event put together by the Philadelphia Sketch Club which is America’s oldest art club. It’s past members included N.C. Wyeth, Thomas Eakins, Maxfield Parrish, Thomas Anshutz, Daniel Garber, Howard Chandler Christy, A.B. Frost, Edward Redfield and the list goes on. The sketch club was founded in 1860 and remains a vital and ongoing part of the Philadelphia region and the world art tradition of excellence in the visual arts.
“Stories” solo exhibition at Cabrini College
This was my first major solo painting exhibition in May of 2007 that featured 58 new works. The opening day of the show attracted over one hundred visitors and was well received all month by the Cabrini Community. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s brilliant Victoria Donohoe wrote a review about the show.
